INDEPENDENT STUDY PROGRAMME

Classes and Seminars

Classes are usually held three days a week on average, although the days may vary from week to week. Schedules are sent out one month in advance. Most seminars require preparation, including the reading of texts.

In addition to a range of seminars and workshops throughout the seven-month programme, the following classes form part of the Independent Study Programme at Maumaus:
- Critical Studies (analysis and discussion of texts)
- Maumaus Lecture Series (during the academic year, personalities from different areas present and discuss their interests and practice)
- Group Crits and Contemporary Art: presentations and discussions of contemporary artists’ works and methods.
- Tutorial – a one-to-one discussion between the participant and another personality connected with contemporary art, such as artists, curators, theorists and art critics –enable artists to develop their personal discourse as part of their practice.
